i know im just saying in the nirvana music videos everyone get's sooo mad... when someone says a band is better then nirvana it's all about opinion and it's unfair to say a band sucks because someone said that, that band is better.... e​xample someone said something i dont know what about comparring this song to nirvana and then it started idk i was just saying i agree let's enjoying these amazing songs.

Yeah nirvana did open the gates for ALOT of bands being labeled as grunge Mudhon​ey, The Melvins, Tad, Love Battery and all those bands. those are some grunge bands i can think of at the top of my head anyway all are good bands i like them but they wouldnt be anything without nirvana or at least as big as they got.. that being said there was other genres in music not just grunge in the 90s so nirvana didnt exactly open the gates for metal, alternative (maybe a little anyway), pop, and punk.

I get what you're saying. And most of it I agree with. I just don't think Nirvana was as great as everyone thinks. Most people praise a dead guy. Look at Michael Jackson. Pers​onally, I think people were into Nirvana because Kurt Kobain was dead like four years after they became a sensation. I feel like if he didn't kick the bucket himself, most people would feel different about them.

My point wasn't nirvana is the reason for STP's sound or idea. My point is STP along w/ many other bands had little to no chance at getting a major label deal until Nirvana and the other major signings made the music marketable to the point that labels were signing the "Maybe"bands.​.You say a couple of years maybe. Thats an eturnity..Pea​rl Jam was a band for about 2 months before they had there major contract.. STP was a band for a couple of years w/ no play...until Nirvana opened the gates

I would of listed some bands but I was running out of room...Lets look at the 7 or so. "In no certain order" Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Sound Garden, Mud Honey, Screaming trees..and we'll say Tad. Those bands led the way for bands like Silverchair, STP, Bush,Collecti​ve soul,Candlebo​x,Hole,The toadies..ect ect If I keep listing I'll take all the fun out of it for you to keep looking. But those 7 or so bands made it marketable enough for many other bands to be signed.

Let us all remind ourselves that there was nothing..Noth​ing!! about "In Utero" that was grunge. Now lets remind ourselves that kurt Cobain wasn't a rock god...He was a guy that CO-wrote some music that was needed at that perfect time. Nirvana was so grunge that Kurt thought it was better to kill himself then have to continue to be a grunge band.. When it really came down to it there were about 7 bands being signed that lead to the signing of 100 other bands . Nirvana was just one of the 7.
