Unfortunately, the NSAs power is growing because the Obama administration is now giving them new powers to conduct surveillance in cyberspace, placing cyber command under the control of NSA, said Madsen.

It appears that may have changed as NSA appear to be seeking more power domestically.​ Since 911, the restrictions that prevented the CIA spying domestically have been relaxed. Having been a contractor and worked with NSA many years ago, I can testify that they hire truly fine people with great patriotic ideals for most jobs. And every government agency has their cleaners. But when you have an agency with this much power that accounts mainly to the secretary of defense, corruption is almost inevitable.
