SVG in Internet Explorer and at Google

SVG in Internet Explorer and at Google

SVG is coming of age. One of the biggest impediments to SVG though has been lack of support in Internet Explorer. At this keynote, part of SVG Open 2009, you will learn about SVG Web, a new open source JavaScript project that allows Internet Explorer to render both static and dynamic SVG with a simple drop-in library! See demos of SVG Web and hear from the creators of the project. In addition, find out how Google and others are using SVG, including in Google Docs, the Google Visualization API, and more. You will walk away from this keynote excited and ready to immediately use SVG across all major browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, the iPhone, and more). Note: This is a re-uploaded version with better audio

1500 developers worked on IE6 because in IE5 ms figured they won the browser war and left only 10 or less engineers on IE team. It took that many to get the browser up to speed and at least compete with FireFOx.

IE sucks and will suck forever SVG is quite old and only this stupid shit hasn't anything of it in it... A plugin wont be a lot better, the adobe plugin hasn't a big share so why should your plugin gain a bigger market share? if nobody would support the stupid ol IEs anymore, nearly everybody would get a better browser or updates at least, so there is hope, but you at google push this old shit... not very good for the web

Google needs to just let IE die, and let Chrome take over. Instead of giving our IE plugins, have it just install Chrome and make it the default browser on peoples computers..

I could have been the first commenter but I wanted to watch the video LOL SVG is really useful but you cant leave bitmap on the side. But with html5 things are going to be awesome. I can't wait till this goes publicly. Hope IE9 is going to step up and not fall behind.
