Panic Disorder

Panic Disorder This disorder is marked by the presence of repeated panic attacks: sudden feelings of terror that appear with physical symptoms like rapid heartbeat, sweating, palpitations, shortness of breath as if suffocating, dizzy or light-headedness, numbness or tingling in the extremities, nausea, and visual distortions. During these attacks sufferers often fear they will have a heart attack, faint, lose control, go crazy, or even die. The attacks begin to subside within 10 minutes but anxiety usually persists longer. Some of the attacks appear "out of the blue" which leads to a generalized fear of more attacks, but some situations may reliably trigger the attacks. Over time, people often begin to avoid the situations where they have experienced previous attacks. This can develop into Agoraphobia, an avoidance of situations from which escape may be difficult. As this disorder grows it can become severely disabling often limiting people's abilities to travel or even leave their homes. The good news is that panic disorder is highly treatable. With medications, cognitive behavioral therapy, or both, the sufferer is soon on the way to recovery. Remember you are never alone.

this kind of suffering totally kicks physical pain in the ass. I'm only 17, and I've been having these panic attacks, yeah, that feeling of helplessness, tension headaches, crazy thoughts, etc., for over 5 months now. I feel every word your saying man. I'm so happy to know there's almost a community here of sufferers and not just me. Nobody normal understands this problem. And damn, it's just at its worst right now. I'm still in high school. I've lost all my friends, and its painful. sad times.

Thanks for the video. Knowing that others struggle the way I do with this disorder helps to relieve my feelings of isolation. The unwanted flood of negative thoughts from my past are what haunt me and trigger my attacks. Good to know its not only me that feels this way. I mean that... Thank you!

Thanks for the video, Its nice to not be alone. I have been to the ER 3 times in the past year. I started reading about panick attacks online and I am pretty sure thats what I have. What scares me is the tingling and burning in my head and headaches even. I spent 6 hours in the ER the other night and got tested (even a CT scan) and nothing. Ia m scared to take pills, but they gave me vallum and it went away. I can't belive the symtoms. Being dizzy and tingly is scary. Thanks for the video.
