he was recently interviewed about this, he said a lot of the difficulty on the screen stemmed from backstage, where it was clear she didn't want to be there, she was apparently rude to the other guest and the crew. Parkinson said thats one of three things he looks for, is how the Celebrity treats his crew and the other guests on the show 'Behind' the scenes. I agree I think he did become argumentative​ with her in a rude way, but you can tell from her body language she was very defensive herself

I love all Parky's interviews...​.HOWEVER...I found this to be really insulting, especially near the end. I think Meg held it together well under the circumstances​ and Michael was just plain rude. Not sure I would like to be told on international​ tv that I was a seemingly unwelding (I know he didn't use these words) person and would hope that when I become more fun/in a better place come back for an interview as that is when i would like to talk to you.....lack of manners!!!

christ - what a sh^t moment for Parky. Ryan said nothing wrong in this, he just got angry and it showed. If anyone refers to this as a bad moment for Ryan then they obvious havent seen this... On the other hand, this is one of Parky's very, very low points... (and I'm a big parky fan)

Parkinson was way out of his depth with Ryan. His questions were stunted, and Ryan's answers were intellegent and thruthful.

Yes it is very British to tell the truth. I dont think he was trying to break her but she is an intelligent adult after all and if she was trying to sabotage his programme because she objected to him in some way she deserved a bit of a grilling. He was not patronizing her as you suggest she just wasnt ready to respond to any questions good, bad or otherwise. He couldnt very well finish the interview early if he had time to fill - it was a free plug for her movie afterall. Ali was a ranting idiot

What a rude old man, presumably he is famous in England d d, but not known elswewhere, which makes him seem even more aggressive. How could he get away with being so insulting. Good for her, she held her own very well.

i thought Parkinson was horrible here. By implying at the end, that he hopes she changes for the better?! True, she didn't articulate on some points to direct the interview forward but Parkinson asked some really offensive questions so in a way, its understandable she was on the defence throughout the interview with this man offending her.

No I think Parkinson is a consummate professional and a genuinely nice guy and he is intelligent enough not to either insult the intelligence of the interviewee or the audience by being so sycophantic as to miss the obvious fact that she was hostile and not going to participate in something she had freely agreed to. To me, yes people like Parky are old fashioned and at times cheesey, but Meg Ryan's attitude smacked of feminisit disdain of "the man"and being from NZ I think Campion is full of it

Parkinson's reaction is merely his way on trying to engage Meg Ryan, and her constantly refusing to show any sort of respect for the interview, refusing to explain any of her comments, or even be polite to Parkinson, is ridiculous. ​She is clearly only there to promote her film, and it really shows.
