| While it is true that the song was inspired by the fact that prisoners in the Nazi Death Camps were forced to play beautiful music while their companions were being executed for the "crime" of being born Jewish, the song itself goes well beyond the macabre setting. It speaks to me of the love that existed and survived this insane example of depravity. It pay homage to the innocents sacrificed on the alter of hatred. We are still here.
