I'm not convinced about this whole idea to get toned with a darker tanner ... The only thing that could happen is to look like a weirdo with curvy marks so not good. Self-tanners are good if applied correctly. What I do 1st is exfoliate, then on feet, hands, elbows, knees and probably face mix your self-tanner with lotion almost the same amount that you are using. For the rest of my body I use it as it is, but if u like to use it with a little bit of lotion too it would be great too.

this isnt 'silly' stylist have been using this technique or years to create the illusion of light and shadow on models in photo shoots. Clearly this isnt meant to instantly make you look ten pounds lighter, but it can be used accentuate curves and create the illusion of tone. Same goes with your face - you can sink your cheeks in and highlight cheekbones to look slimmer in the face.
