Yeah same, my friend introduced me the FF series by buying me this for my birthday in like.. grade 6. I've heard of Final Fantasy but never really knew what it was like. All I remember was that I was extremely pleased when the battling was similar to Pokemon games. But obviously what stood out to me was the graphics. I've never played a game that had cinematics before and so this game blew my top off. Now, Square Enix is the bomb!

Im so happy I bought this game in 7th, 8th grade. It was a beautiful game I cannot describe fully in words. When I beat it, I cryed. The ending made me happy and sad for the characters. I always look forward to the Thanks to All Fans of Final Fantasy thing in the credits :*) Because I am one of the biggest Square and FF fans.

I totally agree! I want to play all the FF games again but time is limited for me now...sigh, the troubles of getting older. But I was rather disapointed with FFXI and FFXII. XIII looks good, but like I said, I don't have a lot of free time anymore...but​ I loved this game (a few scenes even made me cry--you know the ones) and the music is so wonderful and peaceful.

Ah, fair enough, no worries. FF9 started with a random fight too though :P But I understand what you mean, you didn't really find out the main plot till the second disk, but for me the lead up story to it and the locations and the characters themselves more than made up for it. But hey, thats just me. If you have a chance to play it again, give it a go because it's really worth it when you get into it. Like I say, I think it's one of the better games in the series.

I was sort of kidding, the thing that really got me when I played 9 was the fact that my PS2 broke, and the story wasn't as immediately captivating as FF6, or as immediately gratifying as FF7 (the game starts with fighting without telling what the hell is going on, always a neat intro). I'm sure I would love it, I just lost my chance and made a silly sword metaphor.

Gah, I swear I've tried to post the same comment about 3 times, but youtube and it's 'amazing' commenting system *coughcough* keep screwing me over. If several of my comments pop up looking the same, I apologise, Youtube likes to not post stuff. Anyway, excellent peice of music I remember beating the last boss over and over just to listen to the endng music :) It's a shame FFX was the last excellent FF (in my opinion anyway)

So you're saying that you just quit FF9 because the main character didn't carry a 'crazy, massive' sword? I don't mean to sound rude, but do you know how shallow that sounds? If you had given the game more effort, then you might have found out that Zidane later gets to use a 'crazy, massive' double ended sword. If oversized swords are what you look for in games, then you're missing out on some excellent games my friend, because in my opinion, FF9 is one of the best in the series.
