| i think southern ... (mdh2k10) | 21.11.2009 |
| i think southern hip hop is young and they are just experimenting with it. As much as I dislike the soulja bois of today you gotta remember before rakim and krs, hip hop was "i said a hip hop the hippie the hippie to the hip hip hop and ya dont stop" so just give it time to grow | |

| It's not dead at ... (dawb86) | 20.11.2009 |
| It's not dead at all. Certain individuals are trying 2 kill hip hop that could care less about the culture. We should distribute OUR own music and own OUR radio stations so that we can control OUR output. We still own NOTHING, so they're in control, period. And THEY realized early on that hip hop had the potential 2 get 2 strong 2 handle so they're trying their best 2 kill it by doing what u stated in your comment about the next generation. How it all goes down is really up 2 US. | |
| Great comment. I am ... (DixieRected) | 20.11.2009 |
| Great comment. I am nearly 40 years old, and listen to all genres of music. I can dig anything that has true creativity, and I grew up listening to hip-hop, hardcore, punk and classic rock. You can tell who put their heart and soul into the music, and who got in the business to make a million. The same scorecard for all types of music.. it is what separates the Rakims from the Lil Waynes.. the Pink Floyds from the Poisons.. creativity is what should push music.. not record sales and groupies. | |

| Hip Hop was HOME in ... (periechontology) | 19.11.2009 |
| Hip Hop was HOME in the golden age when most sales were coming from the hood. and it isn't dead because MTV plays 50 Cent and Lil Wayne, it's dead because the next generation of kids in the hood that are responsible for the next generation of Hop Hop believe that this stuff is what Hip Hop is Yes there will still be individuals that will make dope records here and there but it will no longer be the voice of a culture which is what Hip Hop was. Hip Hop is not art, it is a conversation -Nas | |

| This is what I ... (Lunatic4Bizcas) | 19.11.2009 |
| This is what I loved about Hip Hop when I was young. Truly creative flow with intense lyrical prose. When listening to this, it gives me the same feeling of urgency that classic punk rock songs like 'Guns of Brixton' or 'London Calling' even classic Metal songs like 'Aces High' or '2 Minutes to Midnight.' This song for instance is exiting with it's rapid rhythm and solid bass 'guitar!' I'm sorry, but I can't identify nor get into the rap music of today. There just isn't any 'fight' in it. | |

| maybe I'm just too old school but ac has always seemed extremely overrated to me. Never too impressed with him lyrically and never been into the whole self pity thing. | |
| Well he was an art ... (periechontology) | 18.11.2009 |
| Well he was an art student, he had SOME ballet, but you're right, he admitted that his songs were not about his own life but about others. In the beginning he wrote political Rap like P.E. then when the Gangsta stuff started getting popular he switched to that and peppered it with a little political message. Pac repped the West because they gave him a chance, I don't think he cared about repping anybody just out of pride. Maybe part of it was that he moved around so much. | |

| It would have been nice to see what Tupac would have did with his acting career. He was on his way to becoming a bigger actor then MC. His last movie Gridlock'd proved he was a made man in his acting skills. As for rapping? Well Rakim is owed a lot. He will always be legendary. I think Biggie had Tupac in flow but I'm from Brooklyn so I can't be a judge. Cali loves Tupac forever, me thinks Pac would have become more legendary from acting. | |

| When he was growing ... (dawb86) | 17.11.2009 |
| When he was growing up in Baltimore (which was a REALLY bad place for Black folks at the time), he was poor. Not broke, POOR. Then, 4 a while in Cali Pac was homeless. If your homeless anywhere u probably know a little something about the mentality of Thug Life. Also, he repped B-More and N.Y. just as hard on lesser known tracks, however he did make a name 4 himself in Cali which is why he repped it like he did. Same thing with Too $hort repping the Bay Area (he was raised in L.A.). | |

| He was a real thug. ... (petradog409) | 16.11.2009 |
| He was a real thug. A real gangster. A real Blood. He new his days were numbered when he started doing what he did. It's fucking sad he was one of our greatest musicians; and he couldn't escape the hell that is the gangster lifestyle.... sad... | |

| 2pac is clearly one of the greatest of all time, but what i dont understand is if he was born n raised on the east coast why did he rep the west coast so hard??? and also he used to be in ballet till he was 17 so where did all the Thug Life stuff come from? | |
