These are the sixties. The audience is doing nothing because Chuck is NOT a electryfying performer. He is just a funny person. I never saw people go crazy when he performed.

White people danced to Little Richard's music at the same time so why not to Chuck's music? Talking about reserved audience: Search on youtube for "elvis detroit 1957".

Someone said that these people are very quiet because in those days the audience was reserved and the music was new, but in the sixties this music wasn't new anymore. People screamed when elvis, the beatles or the stones appeared.

melkiemelkie25.12.2008

If you don't find Chuck Berry and his music electrifying melkiemelke, you must be in a comatose state. Close your eyes and just listen to the music, if you don't feel the need need to move and react then either you don't like rock and roll or your a zombie. Young white people back then reacted differently to black musicians and rock and roll in general depending on the surroundings, enviornment, and the region of the United States. It was all new to these kids. Berry was a pioneer not a comedian.

I have the impression that people danced less as time went on. Compare with the 20s, 30s,... Swing and rock and roll are ultimate dance music, more than the pop music that developed since the 60s.

Audiences didn't know what going crazy and losing control was until the Beatles show up, people just lost it. But Chuck is one of the greatest
