I just watched all episodes with great interest. This man isn't just explaining the Middle East conflict. He's teaching a generation how to perceive and interpret our world correctly and independently - sort of like a good father does. Thank you Noam Chomsky.

Judging on past experience i would say that it only really has an effect on policy if it is big enough and loud enough. So it's really up to us to further whatever cause we feel is worthy

Though my comment was half tongue in cheek, I still think some presence on the fora is helpful. On being active: same problem as in the time of the Balkan wars, i don't know what -within reach- will have any effect.
This is the problem ...   (thepidgon)26.1.2009
This is the problem isn't it? Its next to impossible to change anyones mind via an internet debate. I think we need to do just what Mr Chomsky suggests and be as active as we can

The pidgon drew up his or her sleeves and inquired: "Now what are we going to do about it??" Continue harrassing every internet discussion forum on the net to balance those who fell for the propaganda of esp. Israel? :)

Another Zionist ...   (PaashRevolutionary)25.1.2009
Another Zionist commenting (sorry criticizing) on the crimes of Zionist colonialism which has been occupying Palestine for the last 60 years and decemating the indigenous people. Chomsky fits perfectly to the definition of his oft repeated word - hypocrite. For those offended by this - please refer to his comments on Zionism & Jewish homeland in his interview with The Book TV. Also, if you can read and analyse on your own, check out his Zionist past in the official biography by Robert Barsky.

Very anti-Semitic (Hebrew Semitic) statement. Even despicable when you consider that Chomsky, Finkelstein and many other people of Jewish heritage wouldn't be here if Hitler didn't "spare a few of them." Your grievances are with the American/Israeli right wing policy makers. Shit, even a couple Zionists in Israel are Pro-Palestine and they happen to be Jewish. I am Muslim btw.

I had to laugh at the guy asking prof. Chomsky to sign his t-shirt.

I recommend: 1. "Defending the Holy Land," Maoz, Z. This is very academic, and it's quite dense. It won't give you a quick synopsis. But it is extremely thorough and a definitive book on the conflict. 2. "Scars of War, Wounds of Peace," Ben-Ami, S. Ben-Ami was Israel's chief negotiator during the Oslo accords, and he provides a lot of insider information. Ben-Ami treats his subject fairly. I also recommend Ben-Ami-Finkelstein debate on Democracy Now! to supplement this book.

let's make more American's aware of Mr. Chomsky. That would be a start in educating people to the truth of the issues.
Norman Finkelstein ...   (Chomskyan)19.1.2009
Norman Finkelstein recommend 4 books: 1) Noam Chomsky - Fateful Triangle 2) Robert Fisk - Pity the Nation 3) Benny Morris - Righteous Victims ("good up until 1956") 4) Zeev Maoz - Defending the Holyland
Aah, thanks a lot ...   (wilburnforce)19.1.2009
Aah, thanks a lot for the suggestion. I have heard about Finkelstein, mainly because of the tenure controversy (though I didn't really look into his book at the time). My understanding of the conflict is fragmented and will probably require some basic reading, but i'll get it anyway. thanks again

A genius book about it is written by Finkelstein. The title is "Image and Reality of the Israel-Palestine Conflict". It does need a basic knowledge of what happend (roughly). It debunks israeli propaganda and shows the ugly truth. Very recommendable! Check finkelsteins website, its informative as well.

Shame on these ...   (jawedyusofi)19.1.2009
Shame on these coward baby-killer soldiers. Shame on them...today the world is spitting on their nation for the crimes they have committed. I guess when Hitler was committing the crimes, he spared a few of them so later people would judge why Hitler was doing what he was doing.
