Gary Coleman isn't that well known in the UK. They changed the actress to actor so it would be easier to know he was a guy. Since we don't know much about him, it was changed to fit our culture. I think it might be, actually.

@Samsam2992 Just saw Avenue Q last week as well at Piccadilly Circus. Loved the entire cast! In particular, Gary Coleman! He was excellent. And the entire cast was superb. The only quibble is the first half is stronger than the second half. Every musical needs to end with a bang and the second half did not.
