Hitch is perhaps at his best when speaking to people who have a not-so-well veiled contempt for him. Serpent

What a smarmy little twat this interviewer is. Wouldn't just be completely satisfying to punch him in the face?
Well it's ...   (jumpnjza2)18.11.2009
Well it's impossible to know what would have happened if certain historical developments didn't occur. You may call it pedantic, I call it being principled.
So LTTE is secular, ...   (thesethreekings)18.11.2009
So LTTE is secular, how do you know that others wouldn't have produced suicide bombers eventually? He's not stooping - the Stalin, Hitler Mao thing is plain wrong, the LTTE thing is playing being pedantic.
Well then it's one ...   (jumpnjza2)18.11.2009
Well then it's one massive exception considering that the LTTE pioneered suicide bombings. However that wasn't my point, it's just that you can't stoop to the level of the some Christians when they try and connect atheism with Stalin. You've got to be absolutely principled on this. The LTTE is secular, they are not religious, don't try and throw them in with the religious suicide bombing crowd when their ideology is NOT religious.
But that would be ...   (thesethreekings)18.11.2009
But that would be an exception rather than a rule. It is very relevant to assert that suicide bombing in this age is almost entirely the activity of the religious fundamentalist.
In regards to the ...   (Ramshobraja)18.11.2009
In regards to the god question. I don't wish there was a god or a soul. I simply wish to be able to live on forever, a fear of death. I believe this is very true of religious individuals.
When a christian ...   (jumpnjza2)18.11.2009
When a christian brings up Stalin and says "look at the repression of atheism", we can quite easily say "well you're wrong because Stalin didn't carry out the purges in the name of atheism, he just happened to be an atheist". Same thing here, just because LTTE suicide bombers may be religious doesn't matter because the organization is not motivated by religion but rather a secular struggle. It's a slight double standard on CH's part. I still agree with him on religion.
What? I don't ...   (thesethreekings)17.11.2009
What? I don't think you made any sense.
Claiming that LTTE ...   (jumpnjza2)17.11.2009
Claiming that LTTE suicide bombers are religious isn't good enough, it's only incriminating if they carry out suicide bombings in the name of religion. He's using the same argument that Christians use when they bring up the supposed "crimes of atheism" by talking about Stalin and Mao.

He was justifiably generealising.

I live in T.O I should have seen him. Oh well.

Actually Hitchens the suicide bombing community isn't ALL religious. Suicide bombing was pioneered by the LTTE which is a secular organization. I'm an atheist btw.
Very well spoken! ...   (globalhammock)16.11.2009
Very well spoken! Yes, there does need to be a push back. People who can't listen to him and can't challenge their own beliefs should not post angry comments on the internet - - it comes over as ignorant and violent. Take some time to consider the wise comments of Hitchens, Dawkins, and others

You didn't state a fact 2. Many atheists have responded to being mocked by the religious 3. Many atheists will not respond to such mockery because there is little point. Whatever you say to them will not inspire a coherent reply
