I think both singers of Nightwish have a lot to bring to the table. They're different ends of the spectrum as well, which is I think what caused all the drama amongst fans. Tarja was an opera singer who brought a very mystical and epic feel to much of their music. Annette, the opposite end of the spectrum, brings a voice that's very energetic and much more modern. so its very hard to compare them. I personally like both two. so...th​at's my two cents on the matter. good song either way.

Hm... i like the songs with anette more, but tarja was really great, too. nothing against tarja, i enjoy every song from nightwish, the old and new.

I agree with you reafras, very wise words :) But you should check out Sharon Den Adel, the vocalist of Within Temptations... she takes it all to a new level! In my opinion i can't chose which of those bands are the best, they are both so adorable! :P

Well, I know everybody has an opinion on the singer change, so I'll put in my two cents. From a pitch/tone/vo​ice aspect, I would have to concede that Anette is a better singer than Tarja, but Tarja had something that cannot be taught... For some reason, when Tarja sang, it just gave some mystique to the song. It's inexplicable. Either way, I enjoy both the songs off the Dark Passion Play album and older stuff like Century Child and Once. Genre-wise they're somewhat different, but both great.

The thing that is not easy is to live under shadow of a classical singer as a rock singer. Becau​se people are really closed minded to think that tarja's way is harder just because it sounds cooler. Tarja was just an average classical singer that sings in a metal band. Any other classical singer can do whatever she does. What made her special was to sing in a metal band. But i think anette is really special.. To be able to reach 4:25 without any classical technique needs pretty high skills.

This is a pretty amazing video. The idea of Narnia fits the song, and while the movie was pretty bad (and the books only OK, mostly) the visuals are epic enough to augment the music in a positive fashion. Good job. XD

Every single one. I love their old stuff. Once had almost no bad songs on it (it did have a few misses but very few). Dark Passion play is, in my opinion, their weakest album and it isn't just because of the switch in the singer. The style is way different. Sometimes it works (last of the wilds is fucking amazing), sometimes it does not (the islander, not so much). I am all for experimentati​on and don't hold it against it mind you. I just won't buy the album as it is not my style.

This song not being on dark passion play is the reason I won't buy the album. The only great songs on it are poet and the pendulum and the last of the wilds. Amaranth is OK but it is too tame and sounds too much like pop. The other songs aren't that great either. If this was on it then there would be 3 good songs and that would constitute a buy. Shame really.
